I’m Alessandra Braun, and I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW60003). I have my Masters in Social Work from the rigorous Smith College School for Social Work program and I have many years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Prior to attending graduate school, I traveled to Thailand where I taught English in a small rural town and immersed myself in the Thai culture. As I traveled and volunteered my way through Southeast Asia, I found my calling to social work and social justice. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Michigan, where I was also an academic and athletic All-American (2008), National Champion (2005), and two-time team captain for the softball team. I have been a mentor, coach, and role model for aspiring athletes for many years.
I grew up in the San Marino/Pasadena area, attending Mayfield Junior School (K-8) and Polytechnic School for high school. I was part of the National Charity League San Marino Chapter where I volunteered at various philanthropies around the San Gabriel Valley and participated in soccer through AYSO and baseball in the San Marino Little League. As this community has helped me thrive, I am excited to help kids, teens, parents, and families of the San Gabriel Valley area thrive as well.
I am passionate about my therapeutic work and privileged to give my clients a voice. I love seeing healing in action and being a part of my clients’ growth towards healing, resilience, and thriving. By using any means necessary for connection (play, art, photography, music, sand tray, dance, etc.), I have worked with children and adolescents who suffer from depression, anxiety/panic attacks, eating disorders, developmental disabilities, self harming behavior, anger, bullying, and low self esteem. Through my work with them, I have become a firm believer in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. Although my focus is on children and adolescents, I believe that the strength and resilience of the family is of utmost importance. Thus, I enjoy working with parents individually and in couples to ensure that they are sensitively attuned to their children’s needs and are offering them an environment in which to thrive.
