Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #112141

(626) 765-1214

Alex received his Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy at Fuller Theological Seminary’s School of Psychology.  He is married to an amazing wife and together they are raising four fun, kind and adventurous children.  He spent his formative years growing up in Kenya and plans to take his family back to visit some day soon.  An avid adventurer and amateur athlete, Alex enjoys coaching his children’s soccer teams, watching competitive sports as a family and participating in sprint triathlons.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience working with couples, individuals, children and families. I am passionate about helping couples restore love and trust in their relationship, parents to rebuild confidence and peace where they currently feel overwhelmed and frustrated, and adult men to feel connected and known in their most important relationships. I also specialize in working with pre-adolescent and adolescent boys who are struggling with anxiety, impulse control, anger and defiance.

Then you’re probably looking for help. I believe in the power of creating a safe space for you, your partner and/or your child to process and explore the intimate, the beautiful, the painful and messy pieces of our lives with authenticity, openness and without judgment.

I believe we were created to be in relationship with others. We desire to be known, to be special, and to belong. Tina Bryson and Daniel Siegel, co-authors of The Whole Brain Child and No Drama Discipline, have written about something they call “The 4 S’s.” With confidence I can say that you will experience more joyful connection and intimacy if you feel safe, secure, seen, and soothed.

Working with couples is a passion of mine. On a daily basis I find myself inspired and in awe of the courageous and vulnerable places I see couples lean into. It’s truly powerful and exciting. I work with couples to help provide insight into the painful cycles they are in and to come alongside them to provide a new direction to break the cycle and create a new cycle of peace and safety. Few things get me more excited than working with a couple that is motivated to change!

Many men that walk into my office report feeling like a failure, like they’re not measuring up, or feeling disconnected from the people they care about most. These emotions are painful and disorienting. I offer these men a safe space to process and identify their pain, to better understand their emotions, tools to help express their needs and to create intimate connection in their most important relationships—with their partner, their child, their siblings and their parents.

Certified as a Positive Discipline Parent Educator, I utilize the Positive Parenting model in my own home with my children.  I am a certified foster parent, which provides me with a unique insight into the joy, pain and blessing of parenting children who come from difficult backgrounds, broken families and who can become lost in a broken system. I would be honored to use my experience as a father, foster parent and professional therapist to help you connect with your children in a way in which you may have lost all hope.

Anxious. Angry. Scared. Sad. Resentful. These emotions are difficult for many adults to process in a healthy way. In the still developing brain of a child, these big feelings can be immobilizing or overwhelming. When our children struggle processing their emotions, we might feel overwhelmed ourselves or unqualified to help them. Maybe we’re afraid and we don’t know what to do. As parents, we need to know there is hope for redirecting anger and sadness and overcoming fear and resentment in positive and constructive ways. We can all, children and adults alike, become stuck in the negative script that plays in our minds.  That script can be rewritten. If you’re ready, I’d like to help your family rewrite your story.

Reaching out is the first step. I’ll take the second step with you as I come alongside you on your journey to healing and restoration.

Please call me. My direct number is (626) 765-1214. I look forward to speaking with you.
