Catherine M. Villagran, M.A., CCC, SLP
Catherine is all about Hope. She starts by building a child's communication skills based on their strengths and helps them overcome their challenges. She empowers parents by teaching them the skills they need to take their children even further in their communication development. She does all this based on proven methods, the latest research in neurology, education, and speech and language pathology, and strategies that she has found successful over her 30 year career. She understands the power of communication, and exhausts every avenue to help children reach their full potential.
Catherine relishes the chance for collaboration, and has nurtured professional relationships in the San Gabriel Valley to better serve her families. She enjoys spreading the word about communication development, and has given many presentations to support groups, private schools, preschools, university classrooms, and allied professional groups.
The dynamic field of Speech Patholgy means a lifetime of learning. She received a Bachelor's degree in Speech Patholgy and Audiology, and a Master's degree in Speech Pathology, both from California State University, Los Angeles. She has certifications in the Hanen Parent Training Program and The SCERTS Model (Social, Emotional, Communication, Transactional). She is also trained in the Neurodevelopmental Treament Technique (NDT), PROMPT, and oral motor and feeding techniques for speech production. Her specialties and specific areas of interest include Autism, verbal Apraxia, preschool Stuttering, Tongue Thrust, and speech sound remediation.
Catherine and her husband of 30 years have raised two children, and enjoy- spending time with family and friends, good restaurants, and long road trips.
