Ken Park, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker providing psychotherapy and behavioral health support to children, adolescents and young adults.  Ken utilizes a strengths-based and collaborative approach when it comes to treatment and focuses on building a strong connection with his clients, and helping them connect with others.  Ken believes strengthening these connections allows clients to feel more at ease taking the steps necessary to enact positive change in their lives.

Ken’s unique social work experience informs his clinical practice today. Ken previously worked as a child abuse investigator for Los Angeles County’s child protective services (DCFS), an experience which provided him a unique perspective on the mental health needs of children in distressed and traumatic situations.  Ken then transitioned from child welfare to mental health and worked at UCI Health’s inpatient and outpatient psychiatry departments, treating both adolescents and adults suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.  There he further developed his framework for treating clients, and supporting families, by focusing on client needs and strengths, and by utilizing a collaborative approach to treatment.

Most recently, prior to joining the Center for Connection, Ken was the lead behavioral health provider at Angeles Community Health Center, a community health agency in downtown Los Angeles where he provided direct mental health services to primarily low-income, minority clients. While working with his clients during the pandemic, Ken helped many of them navigate the uniquely challenging times that we are facing as a society today, including COVID mandates, lockdowns, grief, and loss related to COVID, school closures, and social justice issues.

Ken specializes in working with diverse populations, utilizing a culturally appropriate approach that takes into account each client’s unique social background and history, and the impact that has on the client’s self-view and well-being.  Additionally, Ken’s own experience as a divorced, single dad of two school-aged children informs his practice and treatment of children, adults and families struggling with maintaining a balance and connection within the familial unit.

Prior to becoming an LCSW, Ken worked in the feature film industry in production and development and also spent time in the field of brand marketing.  Ken’s clinical practice is well suited for members of the creative community looking for mental health support or just someone to talk to.

Ken attained his Master of Social Welfare (MSW) with a concentration in child welfare and mental health from UCLA, where he was a founding member of the Phi Alpha honor society.  Ken also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Communication from Stanford University.
