About FRANCES

Frances Yang

Education Specialist

Frances is committed to helping students find the joy in learning. She aims to create a positive educational environment where students feel safe, seen, and secure. She leverages students’ strengths and empowers kids to address challenges with a growth mindset. She focuses on teaching individualized strategies that build students’ independence and self-confidence, life skills that children can take with them wherever they may go. Frances recognizes that a student’s journey is not isolated but shared among an essential network of individuals, such as parents, educators, and allied professionals, with the student at the center. Thus, she values consistent and open communication, creating a cohesive support system that is truly in the best interest of the child.

For the past decade, Frances has worked with students in early childhood through middle school in a variety of educational settings. She is currently earning her Masters in Educational Therapy from California State University, Northridge. She holds an Education Specialist credential and studied Cognitive Science and Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of California Los Angeles. She has received training in the Orton-Gillingham method, a multisensory approach to teaching reading, as well as a concrete, pictorial, and abstract (CPA) approach for teaching math. Frances is also a student member of the Association of Educational Therapists (AET).

In her free time, she indulges in all things food–cooking her way through her favorite cookbooks, trying new restaurants, and shopping at farmers markets. She also loves spending time with her family and friends, usually over a delicious meal with music playing.
