Katelyn Montalvo

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

Katelyn Montalvo is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to supporting children and families in building stronger, more connected relationships. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Azusa Pacific University and went on to earn a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary School of Psychology.

Before pursuing her graduate studies, Katelyn worked as a preschool teacher, where she developed a deep appreciation for the ways children communicate, play, and form relationships. During her clinical training at Hillsides in Pasadena, she worked with children and families across residential, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) levels of care. This experience strengthened her commitment to helping families navigate emotional and behavioral challenges with empathy, structure, and understanding.

Katelyn’s therapeutic approach is grounded in attachment theory and trauma-informed care. She integrates play and art interventions to help children process emotions, increase self-awareness, and develop emotional regulation skills in a safe and supportive environment. Katelyn believes that relational healing begins when children feel truly seen and understood, and she partners with caregivers to foster communication patterns that promote trust, connection, and resilience.

She has experience working with children and adolescents facing a range of challenges, including Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), among others. Her work is guided by the belief that every child and family has the capacity to grow and thrive when given the tools to connect and co-regulate.

Outside of her clinical work, Katelyn enjoys hiking, yoga, biking, reading, and spending time with friends.
