Providing Free Therapy for Eaton Fire-Affected Children in the pasadena area

Young & Healthy has partnered with the Center for Connection to offer free mental health support specifically targeting children ages 2-12 who were affected by the Eaton Fire. The collaboration, funded by a generous donation from Direct Relief, aims to address the mounting emotional needs of low-income families as they approach the critical six-month mark following the disaster.

If your child is struggling in the aftermath of the fire, they need compassionate support. These therapy sessions can help families rebuild emotional resilience, reconnect, and move forward together. The program provides play-based family therapy sessions at no cost to enrolled families. Children can express their feelings, manage stress, and begin healing in a safe, supportive environment through this gentle, engaging therapeutic approach.

Program Eligibility

Families affected by the Eaton Fire can schedule sessions by contacting Lilia Sandoval at Young & Healthy at (626) 795-5166 in English or Spanish.

Evelyn Cumpian is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at the CFC, as well as the Para Los Niños Mental Health Coordinator for Early Headstart and Headstart Schools. Across seven locations, Cumpian provides support to PLN students, their families, and their teachers. Among her many services are social-emotional student assessments, school and home observations, and mental health consultations for instructors. Prior to Cumpian’s 11 years with PLN, she worked as a teacher at her children’s school. She was studying to be a nurse, but found her calling in early education. Her journey with PLN began in South LA, working as a substitute teacher before progressing to head teacher, and then site supervisor. Inspired, and with PLN’s full support, she returned to school to earn her MFT, becoming a licensed clinician herself. We are pleased to welcome Evelyn to the CFC.
